Hebrew and Israeli Culture at Michigan State University
The program in Hebrew & Israeli Culture (HI-C) at MSU offers
students the
opportunity both to develop core language skills and to gain an
appreciation for the rich and varied culture of Israel. The approach in
our language courses is essentially a communicative one in which students
gain expertise through utilization of the language in situations
approximating real life. Courses are structured to allow for ample
speaking opportunities and small group work. We also make use of
state-of-the-art multimedia technology. While achieving proficiency in the
language is the central goal, much emphasis is placed on the linkages
between language and culture. Our courses in English allow students with
no knowledge of Hebrew and without any prior background in Israeli culture
to learn more about this dynamic society.
More information is available at the Hebrew
and Israeli
Culture Home Page.
